>> EASTERN COAST OF CANTABRIA
The eastern part of Cantabria has, besides numerous beaches and historic villages and resorts, many natural landscapes of great beauty and scenic interest.

Castro Urdiales, Laredo, Santoña, are villages where you can enjoy the old part´s buildings and the fishing port. Between these villages and the city are beautiful beaches with white and fine sand, (Langre, Ajo, Noja, Laredo, Oriñón...) surrounded by spectacular cliffs .

It is highly recommended to take the boats crossing the Bay of Santander, from Somo to Santander and also the boats from Laredo to Santoña
>> THE REGION OF ASON RIVER
Even thoug it is one of the very unknow areas of our region, Asón, no doubt is one of the most beautiful areas. It still keeps its original nature pleasantry and customs. being also remarkable for its wide variety of Landscapes.

Before entering the awe-inspiring scenery of the Soba Valley, we can visit Limpias, Ampuero where the sanctuary of the "Bien Aparecida" , saint patron of Cantabria is located. Or else, we could go to Ramales to visit the "Covalanas" caves. Along this valley flow the rivers Asón and its tributary "Gándara". The source of river Asón is worth visiting as it is the origin of an espectacular waterfall more than 50 metres high.

We can also visit Arredondo, Riva and the summit of Fuentelasvaras which takes us back to "La Casona".
>> THE ALTAMIRA CAVES
Santillana del Mar is at least than one hour driving from "La Casona". Visiting it is a must as it has great historic and artisitic interest because of its origin that go deep into the Middle Ages.

The Altamira caves are here, a jewel of paleolitic art. A "museum of Altamira" has been opened very recently. Among its very interesting posessions there is an exact reproduction of the inside of the cave which allows the visitor to see an accurate replica of its original paintings.
>> GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM, BILBAO
Bilbao is at least than 45 minutes driving from "La Casona de San Pantaleóon" . This city offers among other remarkable places, the Guggenheim Museum, a true world wide reference of modern art and architecture
>> PREHISTORIC CAVES
The ling ranges of "Alto Ason" shelter a big amount of caves that make this area a paradise for speleologists.

In Ramales de la Victoria area, there is the Cave of "Covalanas", which use to be a temple for paleolitic man who left his art in the shape of paintings that we can visit nowadays.
Near from these are the caves of "Puente Viesgo" having the most interesting prehistoric carvings found in Cantabria
>> NATURE
The importance of nature in our region can be seen in the nature reserve of the Santoña and Noja marshes and the park of the Asón heights.
We begin our route here, between the steep mountains of Soba Valley. The rivers "Gándara and Asón" begin here. The latter starts with a spectacular cascade. We go down the river until we reach its mouth in the Santoña marshes which are rich in animal life.
The stuary of Limpias is formed in this area. This stuary or "Ría" joins the one of the Rada river which brings the waters flowing from Clarín river in the Aras Valley.
