MEDIEVAL ATMOSPHERE |
The building is
the result of numerous enlargements
beginning from an original medieval
tower from which we still can see certain
features as the arch of the entrance,
situated in the dining room.
In a document
timed in the year 1644, the conditions
for "some works on the wooden elements
of the house" are mentioned as
well as the supervisor of these works,
"Don Juan de Alvear Rivas",
accountant of "Casa and Real Sitio
del Buen Retiro"
Therefore "La Casa de Alvear"
in the Alvear area had been made of
store masonry not long before 1644.
It´s façade has a longitudinal
character havig two floors separated
by a strong line of impost, a segmental
arch on the main door and a succesion
of ornamented windows carved magnificently
in a roman style.
On the left side corner there is a shield
with the Alvear arms. it is a
work by the architect Juan de la Carrera.
